Zipporah McLennan daughter of Sarah and Kenneth married 28'May 1898, in Durban, South Africa, James Stretton Jones, b. 29 April 1871, son of Evan Jones and Elizabeth Stretton. They had become engaged in Warrnambool, and he went to Durban where he was able to find employment as a toreman builder. The wedding took place at theWesleyan Methodist Church in Durban. James Jones and wife Zipporah were the parents of Ernest, Margaret, Ivy, and Marjorie. After their marriage in Durban, this family lived in Germiston for a while, but then returned to Durban where Zipporah died on 3 Dec. 1920, of the flu. She was buried the following day in West Street Cemetery, Durban. Her husband died 24 Feb. 1942, and was buried in the same cemetery next to Zipporah.
Ivy Myrtle Jones was a daughter of Zipporah and James Stretton Jones. She was born 26 Dec. 1906, at Germiston, South Africa, and married in 1932, in Durban, Victor Theodore Larsen, and they had two children: David Victor Larsen, born 15 September 1933 and Roy Stretton Larsen born 28th August 1936. Ivy died 2 Jan. 1987, in Durban, South Africa, and was buried in Stellawood Cemetery.
David Larsen married (1) in 1958, Angela Joan Hoch. Children of his first marriage: James and Steve. He married (2) on 26 September 1964, in Pretoria, South Africa, Ursula Hedwig Nolting. David had children by his second marriage as follows: Gernot, Mark, and Verena. Mark and Debbie Larsen are the parents of Amy and Dean Mark. David Larsen has become an active family history researcher and has contributed generously with photos and information on his specific branch of the family tree.
The children of John Hadfield Alsop son of James and Hannah Hadfield Alsop continued to live in the Derbyshire area of England, and the oldest son George J. worked as a carder in a cotton mill. His sister Mary E. was working as a domestic servant in 1881. Joe Garlick Alsop brother of George was employed as a colliery (coal mine machinery) mechanic, while two other brothers John Edwin and Arthur William were professional bookkeepers.
James Alsop, father of John Hadfield Alsop joined his brother John Alsop in the U. S. A. and married Mary Ann Malson after the death of Hannah, his first wife. He then married as his third wife Mrs. Eliza M. Stallman who had two children. Harry and Alice, at the time of their
