Harold Dean Alsop
Virgil Alsop, born at Dry Ridge near Bronson, married Opal Belle Burt, born 29 July 1898, of Uniontown, Kansas on 20 August 1916, at Fort Scott with the ceremony being conducted by W. W. Padgett, Probate Judge. Virgil took his bride to the f-amily home at Dry Ridge which he had inherited the previous year, and he and Opal lived the first years of their marriage in this old two story house with a newer section being added. This more recent addition was built lower than the original part. The old house was torn down a number of years ago. Virgil and Opal had only one child, Harold Dean, who was born 31 July 1917, in the old Samuel Alsop home place.

Harold Dean Alsop-about 9 years of age
Virgil died 31 March 1962, and was buried in the Bronson Cemetery. His wii-e Opal, just a few months before her death on 4 Jan.1983, told her grandson Ron Alsop that one of their Alsop relatives had made a ring while serving a sentence in Wyoming Territorial Prison located in Laramie, Wyoming. She had somehow come into possession of the ring and gave it to Ron because of his interest in the family history. This Alsop will be discussed later in this chapter. Opal Burt Alsop was also buried in the Bronson Cem.
