Notice 1 By the virtue of powers delegated by the Minister in terms of section
22 of the Environmental Conservation Act No. 73 of 1989, The Department
of Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Land Affairs denied authorization
of the project.
Name of Project:Establishment of a Township to be known as Rietvlei Heights on the Remaining Extent of Portion 5 of the farm Doornkloof 391- JR. Proposed Activity:The proposed township development will consists of erven and streets with the following zoning: 128 erven for residential purposes zoned "Residential 1" with a density of one dwelling per erf (Erven 2-4, 7-15, 17-62, 64-107, 109, 110 and 112-135) Location:The proposed township is situated just south of the southeastern corner of the intersection of the extension of Goedehoop Road (also known as road M 57) and Nellmapius Road (also known as Road M31), west of the Rietvlei Nature Reserve and just north of the Sesmylspruit. Name of Proponent:M & T Development/ JR 209 Investments (Pty) Ltd Reasons for denial:Existing policies, Geotechnical conditions, Possible habitat for red data fauna species, Buffer Zone around the Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve, Illegal construction on site. Name of Project:Establishment of a Township to be known as Rietvlei Heights on part of Portions 32,33 and 35 as well as Portion 34 of the farm Doornkloof 391-JR the Remaining Extent of Portion 5 of the farm Doornkloof 391- JR. Proposed Activity:The proposed township development will consist of erven and streets with the following zoning: 138 erven for residential purposes zoned "Residential 1" with a density of one dwelling per erf (Erven 1-11, 13-96 and 98 1 140)It is the developer’s intension to build a community center on the erf for the exclusive use of the residents of the Estate that will consist of facilities such as a clubhouse and sport facilities. Location:The proposed township is situated south of the proposed township Rietvlei as well as the Sesmylspruit, west of the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, and east to the extension of Goedehoop Road (also known as road M57). Name of Proponent:M & T Development/ JR 209 Investments (Pty) Ltd Reasons for denial:Existing policies, Geotechnical conditions, Possible habitat for red data fauna species, Buffer Zone around the Rietvlei Dam Nature Urban Edge, Fragmentation of habitat, Urban sprawl, Agricultural potential.
