PURPOSE
Basic assessment for thy establishment of an office park and mini
shopping centre, and scoping for the construction of a filling station
and associated structure_ and infrastructures or any other facility for
the underground storage of a dangerous g00d, including petrol, diesel,
liquid petroleum gas and/or paraffin.
BACKGROUND
Greymont Investments cc. has a project of the establishment of _
filling station and associated structures (e.g. Mini shopping centre)
together with the proposed development of an office park on portions 58
and 60 of farm Doornkloof 391 JR. I
As such, this project falls within the ambit of Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA) Regulations (R. 385, R. 1386 and R. 387 of 21 April
2006) and therefore an Environmental Impact Assessment should be
conducted, and as a requirement of the EIA process public participation
should be followed as per regulation 56 of the act. I
PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
According to part 2 of the regulations (NEMA, 1998. as amended, 21
April 2006) it is stipulated that a public participation process with
respect to this development should take place and the views and
concerns of the interested and affected parties be addressed.
Therefore it is worth to note that the purpose of this gathering is to
ensure that the requirement of public participation as set out in
chapter 56 of the regulations (NEMA, 1998 as amended 21 April 2006) is
achieved.
