      Hi,

As discussed with you on the phone we applied for the registration of the abattoir at Rietvlei Nature Reserve with Gauteng Department of
Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Land Affairs the Directorate: Veterinary Services.

One of their conditions for registration is the submission of a letter of no objection from the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry,
which we got on condition that we will make use of a septic tank that will be de-sludged on a regular basis. This separate septic tank
system is already in place. The water used is supplied by the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality Purification Works at the
      Rietvlei Dam within the Reserve.

The other condition was that we follow a public participation process. We did advertise in the local media and put up notices at the main
gate and the Depot but only got feedback from the Friends of Rietvlei stating that they don't have any objections.

The application is for a Rural Game Meat Abattoir with full inspection (Grade E for Game). A maximum of 20 small game carcasses will
be handled per month and it will only be used for the reserves own animals culled in winter months. This is to facilitate the legal sale of
meat from the reserve and for no other purposes. Instead of hunters shooting the necessary animals we will now be doing the culling
ourselves. For this to happen the Abattoir must be registered.

The abattoir is situated at the Depot of the Rietvlei Nature Reserve situated at the Main Gate.

If you have any comments or questions please contact me at 012 345 5103/4 or fax at 012 345 3928.

      Yours truly,
