Introduction
Notice is given in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act
No. 107 of 1998), as amended and the Environmental Impact Assessment
Regulations, 2006, that the applicant is applying for environmental authorisation from
the Gauteng Department of Agriculture-and Rural Development,' withaScopinqand
Environmental impact assessment procedure for the development of Portion 159 of
the Farm Doornkloof 391-JR.
The Site and Location
The application site is 30 hectares in extent and is located on the east side of the
M18 road and railway line and bordering the Olifantsspruit, to the south east of Irene
in the Kungwini area. Refer Plan 1: Locality Plan.
Description of the Project
It is intended that the site will be developed for a mixed use development, comprising
of commercial uses, business and certain industrial uses. These are envisaged to be
of a high quality nature and the applicant intends to implement green technologies
within the development. The area along the Olifantsspruit will be retained and
developed as an open space park. The development will also include all services,
infrastructure and roads.
