INDEX
Background: Opportunity Driven Multiple Access
(ODMA) is packet radio system based on a
multi-hop technology where the data packets are relayed via other user
terminals on their way to the base station. ODMA was originally
developed by a
South African company called Salbu. Together with Vodafone and to
a lesser extent Siemens, Salbu introduced ODMA to ETSI SMG2 in
1996 as a proposition for the 3rd Generation (3G) mobile network.
